Carl A. Peterson, a strong, young, and gregarious man left Sweden and immigrated to Canada to find work on the Canadian Transcontinental Railroad. Speaking little to no French or English, Carl found himself working in miserable conditions in a back breaking job. It wasn't all hard work though, family legend holds that Carl was an avid hockey player. While he was not the best player on the team, what he lacked in skill he made up for in his drive and dedication. It was this same fuel and dedication that drove his ambition for a better life for him and his family. During these difficult times he saved as much money as possible in order to seek out a warmer, brighter future.
